  Per SSSF Policies & Procedures:  Sail Report must be turned in within one (1) month of the sail.

  • Crew must vary from sail to sail.
  • Day sail earns one (1) sail credit when boat  & Crew signed up via the Sailing Director. 
  • Non-scheduled sails  earn one (1) sail credit if there are at least two (2) Club members aboard. 
  • Weekend or extended sails earn (1) credit per day.

  Sunday Jazz Brunch

  The Sunday Jazz Brunch is an ideal way to relax and enjoy Fort Lauderdale’s scenic Riverwalk. This free, live outdoor concert series features the area’s best local jazz artists. Listen to the music on three different stages on the first Sunday of each month from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  Well-behaved leashed pets are also welcome to attend. There is plenty of room to set up chairs, blankets, and picnic baskets to experience the fabulous entertainment. Eventgoers can also stroll along the historic brick-lined walkway to enjoy live music while browsing items from local merchants and enjoying food from area restaurants.

  A day sail and/or Raft up is scheduled for Saturday, July 12 in the Middle River, north of Rio Barcelona at 2:00 PM.   

  Registration is now open!     Various opportunities may be available for this day event - Sailing or motoring to the rafting up.       

  Boat assignments will begin July 8 and is dependent on the number of captains participating and of course the weather!    Please note that boat assignments are not guaranteed.

  The full 'Sturgeon' Moon begins August 9th, so let's enjoy the evening on the water with friends under the beautiful full moon on Saturday, August 9th.  Raftup will begin at 5pm on Lake Sylvia. 

  Some captains may go for an afternoon sail prior to the raftup.

  Sailing Orientation Sessions (SOS) are held twice a year and are a great opportunity for members to learn more about sailing and become valuable crew members.  SOS is both fun and educational.

  Fall SOS will be on Saturday, October 18 in the Manatee pavilion at Birch State Park, which is where we had our Spring 2025 SOS.  Lunch will be provided.  Alcohol and glass containers are prohibited, as is amplified sound.  There is a large parking lot near the pavilion, and all vehicles must park in paved parking spaces.

  Registration for SOS is open on the website, and required to reserve your lunch.  SOS is free to members and $20.00 for guests.  Please remember to wear your SSSF badges.  After class, Certificates of completion will be given out to students upon request.

  The schedule is below, but times may vary depending on the length of each class.  We will need volunteers to help check people in and clean up afterward, as the area needs to be returned to its original condition.  If you would like to help, please talk to Scott Stemple.

  Admission to the park

  $6 per vehicle (up to eight people) – please try to carpool if possible.

  $4 single occupant vehicle or motorcycle.

  $2 pedestrians, bicyclists.

  Hugh Taylor Birch State Park is a Florida State Park located in Fort Lauderdale, on East Sunrise Boulevard, between the Intracoastal Waterway and SR A1A.

  The Manatee Pavillion is in the North Picnic Area, #11 below.

  We will be holding a HH on 10/18 at the Grove Grill at Hugh Taylor Birch State Park from 3:45  pm til 5:30pm following the SOS. The Manatee Pavilion is on the Intracoastal side of Birch State Park. People will probably want to drive to the beach side of Birch State & park in the parking lot by the beach & canoe rentals to go to the Grove Grill. There is parking on the side of the street by the Grill also close to the Restaurant. A 10% discount on drinks & food will be provided.
